OptiFlex-Rapid PMMA Liquid Waterproofing System
What is it?
OptiFlex-Rapid is a unique PMMA, rapid-curing range of waterproofing, reinforced with 150gsm matting and no need for mechanical restraint or welding to the roof substrate. With a typical curing time of 20 minutes, our Rapid range of products are suitable for year-round application. Like our other liquid waterproofing systems, OptiFlex-Rapid is applied using a brush or roller for a seamless finish, even on detailed roofs.
OptiFlex-Rapid is one of our fastest and most cost-effective options for both commercial and residential projects, particularly on sites where hot works are prohibited.
What can it be used for?
OptiFlex-Rapid is suitable for both commercial and domestic use and has been formulated to allow for direct application onto most surfaces without the need for primer (note: it is advisable to use a primer or carrier membrane prior to a new roof application).
Alternatively, OptiFlex-Rapid can be used to overcoat existing old or failed membranes including felt, asphalt, metal, GRP, and so on. This eliminates the need for the roof to be stripped and the substrate disturbed, saving both time and money!
OptiFlex-Rapid is a completely flame-free system, ideal for the following:
- Sites with limited timescales or constant access required
- Pitched roofs
- Flat roofs
- Green roofs
- Balconies and walkways
- Complex detailing
- New construction

Uses
OptiFlex Rapid is designed so that it can be applied directly onto most surfaces without the need for primer. This means that it can be incorporated into the building of a new roof; applied onto OSB3/Plywood boards, it is advisable to use a primer or carrier membrane prior to a new roof application.
Alternatively used to overcoat existing old or failed membranes including felt, asphalt, metal, GRP etc, eliminating the need for stripping the roof and disturbing the substrate, saving time and money whilst limiting disruption on site.

Coverage Rates
OF-PMMA Primer needs to be applied at a coverage rate of 0.3kg per m² and allowed to fully cure, typically around 20 minutes depending on weather conditions. First coat of OptiFlex Rapid is applied at a coverage rate of 1kg per m² which typically cures around 20 minutes. Once cured the second coat of OptiFlex Rapid is applied at a coverage rate of 0.5kg per m², again cures in approx. 20 minutes. OptiFlex-AS5/AS10 is applied at a coverage rate of 1kg per m². OptiTorch Ltd recommends leaving each coat approx. 1 hours to ensure the coat is completely dry.
